BRUNO MARS, ANDERSON PAAK, SILK SONIC (Leave The Door Open)

In an interview with New Zealand radio DJ Zane Lowe for the Apple Music podcast Beats 1, Anderson Paak said the song required a lot of "patience and delicate" to create. He added, "A lot of meat went into this song."

In late February 2021, Bruno Mars and Paak announced on social media platforms the formation of their new band Silk Sonic and group's first studio album An Evening with Silk Sonic. The project follows the Billboard 200 top five peaking albums 24K Magic (2016) by Mars and Ventura (2019) by Paak. On March 5, 2021, shortly after the announcement of An Evening with Silk Sonic, "Leave the Door Open" was released as the first single of the aforementioned project alongside the "Silk Sonic Intro".
